Guiding principles in light of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance

With the birth of the International Convention for the protection of all persons against enforced disappearances in 2006, a new way of understanding and understanding the disappearance of persons begins, without forgetting that the origin of this international instrument has been the push from various nations and experts, victims and their families, in the face of aberrant events. It is necessary to point out that, within this Convention, specific principles have been established that give meaning to the actions of nations in the matter in question. Likewise, these principles establish minimum standards that must guide the actions of the State, in the face of the phenomenon of the disappearance of persons. For this reason, it is necessary to observe how the Inter-American Court of Human Rights seeks, through its rulings, to interpret the text of the Convention.
