The legal consideration of childhood and adolescence is a subject that allows multiple approaches, as it is a multidisciplinary topic. Linking socio-affectivity with the law, particularly regarding child support obligations and its extension to the defense of the rights of children and adolescents, is a matter of utmost importance nowadays. The extensive development of children and adolescents is not only a goal but a challenge, as its implementation is not easy. It is not only a matter of adequate legislation and well-intentioned public policies; it requires a conscious and positive attitude of parental responsibility that is in tune with the demands of these times. The goal is to evaluate if socio-affectivity can be incorporated as a component of child support provided by parents to their children, as minors or adolescents; regarding the methodology used, this is a descriptive type of research, since it is an interpretative fieldwork. The phenomenological-hermeneutic method was used for the interpretive-analytical process, aiming to understand, interpret, and delve into meanings from the actor's perspective, establishing relationships between meanings and the context; analytical techniques were applied for content analysis. During sampling, we considered the principles of child support law, current legislation, and jurisprudence on child support for children and adolescents. The results obtained in this research can contribute to generating new studies on the importance of socio-affectivity in the comprehensive development of children and adolescents, and how it can be
incorporated as a component of child support through a communication or visitation regime that not only enables physical contact between parents and children but, more importantly, fosters emotional connection. The conclusions demonstrate that socio-affectivity is a significant component in the comprehensive development of children and adolescents, and it should be part of the obligation of child support, which could be achieved through a communication regime established when determining child support payments.
